We are seeking a Financial Analyst, Clinical Projects to provide valuable financial support for our clinical development programs. This role is essential for maintaining the financial integrity and success of our clinical trials and necessitates close collaboration with Clinical Operations, ProjectManagement, Legal, and Corporate Finance teams. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, science-driven environment where your contributions directly support the advancement of life-changing therapies.

Role:

Reporting to the EVP, Finance and Operations, the Financial Analyst, Clinical Projects will oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for multiple clinical studies, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, budget and regulatory requirements. The Financial Analyst will prepare, reconcile, analyze, and report on budgets, contracts, project accruals, and associated metrics. The Financial Analyst will produce financial and other business analyses, as well as interpret and investigate data for clinical projects and contracts. The Financial Analyst will ensure all budget and financial reporting activities are accurate and prepared within established timelines.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Forecasting

  • Develop and maintain accurate cost forecasts for clinical programs and related activities.
  • Monitor actual spend vs. budget and update cash flow and estimate-to-complete projections.

Budgeting & Scope Management

  • Prepare and update clinical trial budgets, incorporating protocol amendments and scope changes.
  • Support contract negotiations, change orders, and financial terms with CROs, vendors, and partners.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Perform variance analysis and scenario modeling to support strategic decisions.
  • Prepare ad-hoc, monthly and quarterly financial reports and insights for internal stakeholders and the management team.

 Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Clinical Operations, Legal, and Finance teams to align financial and operational objectives.
  • Provide financial guidance to support decision-making for clinical development strategies and long-term planning.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Life Sciences, combined with strong financial skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis roles, including 3 years specifically within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or contract research organisation (CRO) sectors.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial budgeting, supplier contracts, and revenue recognition principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modelling and budgeting tools.
  • Expert in financial analysis, troubleshooting, and effectively communicating findings and recommendations to stakeholders. 
  • Familiarity with financial reporting tools and data visualization platforms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (French and English). (This position involves daily collaboration with suppliers, teams and partners located outside of Quebec, requiring a strong knowledge of English by the candidate).
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
